  1. servers

    News channels

    21:54

Subscribe a channel to the Steam news of your games or to any RSS/Atom feed (studio blogs, patch notes, YouTube channels). The server checks every ten minutes and the bot posts new items with title, excerpt, link and picture; per source you decide whether @everyone gets pinged. Subscribing shows the newest post once without a ping, and nothing is ever posted twice.

  2. servers

    Team planner channels

    21:54

A new channel type for large-scale raids and PvP: only admins plan (optionally weekly), members register with their class from the server’s game presets, admins split the roster into teams of a set size, mark team leaders and keep a note per team — tactics, meeting point, voice room. Auto-fill spreads classes evenly across teams.

  3. ux

    Dashboard

    21:54

A Discover button next to Customize, a Profile Ranking panel where you can enter and vote without leaving the overview, and the “Active now” panel is gone — the friends list covers it.

  4. themes

Ambient effects and a tidier Appearance tab

    21:54

The particle effects from profiles (rain, gold dust, fireflies, sakura, snow, embers, bubbles) can run across the whole app, behind the interface over your wallpaper or over everything, and travel with your saved looks. Saved looks are cards with a live miniature now, the Appearance tab is regrouped so related settings sit together, and sharing a look with a bigger wallpaper works again (the upload hit a 1 MB limit that has been lifted).

  5. desktop

    Desktop app 0.1.31 – 0.1.34

    21:54

Quality lives in the native window picker now: Gameplay/Text, resolution up to 4K or Auto, frame rate and bitrate. Auto starts the share immediately, measures what your PC handles and settles on the best picture within seconds; Settings → Screen share quality has a “Test what my PC can do” button that shows, per resolution, the frame rate your encoder really manages. Fullscreen games do not appear in the window list because Windows minimizes them when you switch away — the picker says so and offers Refresh; share the screen or run the game borderless. On Linux a single ignored portal dialog no longer disables native Wayland capture for good (Tray → Reset screen capture mode). Autostart works again on Windows and, for the first time, on Linux. Quick launch lists the games installed on your PC — including titles borrowed through Steam Family Sharing — and can search all of Steam.

  6. voice

    Streams that stay watchable

    21:54

Server-distributed shares are capped at 12 Mbit/s and sent as three simulcast layers, so a viewer on a weak line gets a smaller picture instead of a stutter — one slow connection no longer drags the stream down for everyone. You can switch what you share without stopping the stream (⇄ next to the share button); viewers stay connected. The fullscreen stream chat follows new messages again, and the text-chat icon of voice rooms is easier to hit.

  7. profile

Profile Ranking medals — for real this time

    21:54

The weekly Top 3 never received their badges: the grant ran against a table that did not exist and failed silently right after the results were saved. Fixed, and awarded retroactively for week 37. Medals also sit next to the name on the profile now, so a winner wears them even without the Badges panel. Weeks that nobody opened during the results window are closed automatically from now on.

  8. emotes

FREEZEN emotes, classic smileys and a smarter picker

    21:54

The picker now ships 41 hand-drawn FREEZEN emotes (37 faces plus heart, eyes and thumbs up/down) instead of the plain emoji list, shown at the same size as server emotes. Classic smileys work in chat: :) :D xD ;) :P <3 ^^ and friends turn into the matching emote, while paths, times and links stay untouched. Shift-click keeps the picker open so you can pick several in a row, reactions with the new emotes render properly, chat emotes grew a little, and freshly uploaded server emotes appear as global emotes right away.

Saturday, 12 September 2026

  1. profile

    Medal clips on your profile

    17:57

Settings → Connections has a Medal.tv link: enter your Medal username or profile link and your profile gets a "Medal clips" module with your newest clips — thumbnails with length and views, and a click plays the clip right there without leaving FREEZEN. Visibility is controlled under Privacy → Show my Medal, and the module can be placed and resized like every other profile panel.

  2. brand

    New app icon

    17:19

FREEZEN has a new icon: the rounded glass tile with the Z. It is live as favicon, PWA and notification icon and in the server rail, and ships with the desktop app 0.1.30 (Windows, Linux) and the Android app 0.1.3 — the Android icon is adaptive now, so launchers no longer wrap it in a white circle.

  3. ux

Landing page, links and small fixes

    17:19

A calmer, trust-first landing page in all eight languages with a language switcher. Channel and message links from DMs now open reliably and only complain about access when access is really missing. Member names show all roles on hover, the @-mention picker keeps your selection, the Profile Ranking has a proper stage timeline, and the profile editor explains every option.

  4. desktop

Desktop app: call chip and quieter overlay

    17:19

The title bar shows who you are talking to, for how long, and a mute button right next to the window buttons; the parked tab at the screen edge is gone in the app. The in-game overlay is now off by default because any window over a borderless game disables G-Sync/FreeSync — turn it on knowingly in Settings if your games are fine with it.

  5. bot

    Gambling rules

    17:19

Three challenges per member per day, two hours to accept, one open challenge per channel. Admins can restrict @gamble to specific channels — elsewhere the bot points people there.

  6. voice

    Louder friends, honest stream modes

    17:19

Per-person volume goes up to 200 % with a real boost, so a quiet microphone on the other side can be lifted. Streamers now announce whether they send through the SFU or directly, and viewers follow that — no more mismatched paths. The SFU sender respects your Gameplay/Text choice under load instead of always protecting resolution, which had turned ultrawide shares on a small uplink into a slideshow.

  7. files

    Send big files directly

    17:18

Files too large for the encrypted relay (up to 500 MB) can be sent peer to peer in a DM. You are warned first: the transfer is encrypted in transit but not with your message keys, the other side must be online and accept, and the file is saved straight to their device — the server never stores it. Server uploads show real progress now, and the message box itself is a drop zone.

  8. themes

    Wallpaper polish

    17:18

Overlays such as Settings and profiles no longer show the channel underneath; channel, chat and dashboard pictures take over the background only while you are there and hand it back afterwards; the user bar at the bottom stays solid; light themes get correct window buttons; the DM profile panel stays glass over your picture. A wallpaper race that sometimes left the wrong picture up is fixed.

  9. themes

    Templates gallery, previews and sharing

    17:18

Discover has a new Templates tab: looks other people listed, as live miniatures with Apply, Preview, Save and Share. Preview tries a look with a "Keep / Back to my look" bar. You can keep up to five saved looks; a look already published by someone else cannot be published twice. Theme links show as a preview card in chats, and your profile can showcase the looks you listed.

Friday, 11 September 2026

  1. infra

    Safer deploys, reachability fixes

    20:09

Every deploy now boots the community server once before it ships and builds the web app next to the live one, swapping only on success. A dead IPv6 record that made the app unreachable on some mobile networks is gone. Steam sign-up works again and Steam artwork resolves for newer games.

  2. ux

Rail folders, file browser folders, polish

    20:09

Drag servers on the rail to reorder them or drop one onto another to make a folder (rename, colour, ungroup via right-click). The file browser groups chat attachments by the channel they were posted in, automatically. Profile Ranking got a proper three-stage timeline and a phone layout; the profile editor explains every colour and module option; the @-mention picker keeps your selection; typing in long chats no longer lags; member names show the top role icon with a badge bubble on hover.

  3. themes

Make it yours: presets, wallpapers, shareable looks

    20:09

17 theme presets from Nord and Dracula to Cyberpunk and three light ones, every surface colour editable including success and danger, and an app-wide wallpaper behind glass panels — BetterDiscord style — with glass, dim and blur sliders. Channel, chat and dashboard pictures take over the background while you are there. Save your whole look as a template, reuse it, share it as a link or a code; theme links show as a chip in chat.

  4. desktop

    Desktop app 0.1.29

    20:09

In-app dialogs instead of system pop-ups, a custom title bar on Windows, keyboard stays alive after dialogs, sidebar drag-and-drop that works in the app, and game detection without PowerShell (no more antivirus false positives). The in-game overlay only appears while it has something to show and no longer repaints constantly — that was costing frames and disabled G-Sync/FreeSync in borderless games; turn the overlay off in Settings if you use VRR. Linux: screen capture without a working desktop portal no longer hangs silently. Windows and Linux builds are in sync.

  5. bot

    Bot AutoMod

    20:09

Admin panel → AutoMod: blocked words (with prefix wildcards), foreign invite links, all links, message-rate spam, repeated messages, mention spam and shouting. A hit removes the message and can time the member out; exempt roles and channels, and a log channel where the bot notes who, where and why. Off by default per server.

  6. calls

    Calls: steadier connections

    20:09

Ringing is retried while the other side is connecting, a stalled connection gets one automatic ICE restart before giving up, and the incoming-call overlay stays on top of everything. If someone is already in a call you see "line busy" and they get a notification. Changing your password keeps your messages readable on all devices.

  7. dms

    Direct messages: reactions, delivery, privacy

    20:09

Reactions in DMs, with every global emote. No more pending clock under your messages — only a red mark if delivery really failed. Closing a chat removes your own messages on every device; the other side keeps theirs. Appear offline to a specific person (with a reminder when you write to them). Reading on one device clears the notification on your others. Watch-together keeps playing when you switch to another chat or server — it pops out into a small window.

  8. voice

Voice: move people, keep rooms, stream previews

    20:09

Moderators move members between voice channels by drag-and-drop or from the context menu, and temporary hub rooms can be made permanent. A stream that was stopped and restarted opens again for everyone (stale viewers no longer block it). Hovering a streamer in the channel or member list shows a live preview, voice-room tiles show the stream inside the tile, and detached stream windows are now a bare video surface without any bars.

  9. permissions

    Private channels, raid permissions, duplicates

    20:09

A channel (or a whole category) can be restricted to selected roles AND specific members — the Discord-style "only these people" channel. Raid planning is split into Create raids (everyone, manage your own) and Manage raids. Events can repeat for up to two years, and each event channel has a "show on dashboard" toggle. Channels and roles can be duplicated with one click.

  10. links

Links to channels, messages and posts

    20:09

Copy a link to any channel, message or forum post and paste it anywhere — in DMs too. It shows as a chip, opens in-app and jumps straight to the message, loading older history if needed. People without access to that channel get told so instead of nothing happening. Discord-style timestamps (<t:…>) render in everyone's local time.

  11. forum

    Forums, rebuilt

    20:09

Forum channels now look like a real board: a topic table with last activity, author columns on posts, a formatting toolbar and images in posts and replies. Topics can be pinned, renamed by their starter, marked solved and tucked away once solved. Admins define tags per forum; members label topics with them and filter the list. Open threads of a text channel are listed right under it in the sidebar.

  12. servers

New channel types: Rules and Honeypot

    20:09

Rules channels show numbered sections with titles and explanations and can be part of onboarding. A Honeypot channel looks normal to a bot but humans only see a warning and no message box — any account that posts there is banned on the spot, IP included. Moderators can still place bait messages. Server icons and banners can be animated GIFs, and uploads may now be as large as the space assigned to your server.

  13. self-hosting

Self-hosted servers: your own port, real certificates

    20:09

Not everyone has 443 free — the install command now takes the HTTPS port you want. Certificates are issued by FREEZEN via DNS validation and renewed automatically, so a self-hosted server on any port gets a proper padlock.

Saturday, 05 September 2026

  1. legal

    Terms & privacy updated

    20:10

The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy now cover linked accounts, the Profile Ranking, server profiles and — new section 16 — self-hosted servers: hosters run their server as independent operators and confirm that before they receive their install command.

  2. fixes

Mobile uploads, owner transfers, leaving servers

    20:10

Picking a video on your phone no longer kills the chat — the server view stays put during a short reconnect and messages typed meanwhile go out afterwards; iPhone .mov videos are accepted. Admin owner transfers stick. "Remove from rail" is gone: a server only leaves your list when you leave it.

  3. security

    Security pass

    20:10

A full review of the master and community servers: role escalation paths closed, moderation now respects the role hierarchy, hidden channels stay hidden for every message action, per-account login rate limits, security headers everywhere, social logins go through the same 2FA gate, and both servers run on express 5 and Next 16.

  4. connections

    Connections: Discord, Steam, Twitch, Spotify

    20:10

Settings → Connections links your accounts. Sign in with Steam, go purple when you are live on Twitch (with a stream preview on your profile), show what you are listening to on Spotify. Server bots can announce members' streams in a channel of your choice. Everything is opt-in and controlled under Privacy.

  5. servers

    Server profiles

    20:10

Admins can allow members to wear a different avatar and banner on their server only — set it via Customize on your own profile while you are on that server. Everywhere else your global profile stays as it is.

  6. profiles

Profile Ranking, likes and new badges

    20:10

Every week: enter your profile Monday to Wednesday, vote on pairs Thursday to Saturday 19:00, top 3 get a badge. Profiles can be liked, and badges got a proper coin look. A small popup reminds you each week — turn it off under Settings → Privacy if you like.

  7. discover

    Discover, rebuilt

    20:10

Your servers and groups are cards with live activity (who is in voice, who streams, the next event) and you can drag them into the order you want — the rail follows. A new left sidebar lists every community with what is happening right now, plus a recent-activity feed. Works on phones too.

  8. ui

New user bar, activity in member lists

    20:10

Your avatar, name and status moved into a Discord-style bar at the bottom of the sidebar; settings and notifications live there now. Member lists show who is in voice or streaming right under the name, and voice drops you out cleanly on connection loss and re-joins by itself when the link is back.

  9. desktop

Desktop app 0.1.22: clean per-window audio

    20:10

Streaming a single window now carries only that window's sound — no more browser or Discord audio bleeding into your game stream. Windows uses a native capture helper, Linux picks the app via PipeWire. Stream restarts are watchable again and the phone player no longer crashes with two streams open.

Friday, 04 September 2026

  1. feature

Self-host a server in one command

    07:51

Claim a name, run one command on Linux or Windows, forward port 443 — done. You get your-name.host.free-zen.com with HTTPS included, a signed server build that verifies itself and updates automatically, and your account as owner. Find it under Create → Self-host a server.

  2. improvement

    Old app versions must update

    07:51

Servers now require a current desktop/Android app. Out-of-date apps get a clear ‘update required’ message instead of silently failing; the desktop app updates itself on the next start.

  3. improvement

    Community servers on dedicated hardware

    07:51

Community servers moved to a dedicated host with server-side streaming (SFU) for smoother screen shares. Member online status is correct again everywhere; the presence flapping right after the move is fixed.

  4. feature

    Desktop app 0.1.16

    07:51

Startup screen with an offline/retry prompt when the app can’t reach FREEZEN, optional autostart with Windows/Linux (starts minimised), a window picker on Linux, and window shares no longer leak your browser or game audio — only entire-screen shares on Windows include system sound.

  5. feature

Bot shop, attacks & weekly lottery

    07:51

The server bot grew an economy: @shop sells weapons that steal XP from other members and wards that protect you, @attack uses them (with cooldowns), @inv shows what you own, and @lottery runs a weekly XP draw. All bot commands now show their @ in the command list.

  6. improvement

Calls & streams: chat on demand, real pop-out

    07:51

The call/stream view is cleaner: open the chat only when you need it, pop a stream out into its own always-on-top window, and toggle the stream stats with the small ! on a thumbnail. Streams that lost a viewer connection now heal themselves instead of needing a reconnect.

  7. feature

    File browser channel

    07:51

A new channel type lists every file on the server — uploads and chat attachments alike — with search, file sizes and folders in your accent colour. Members with the right role can sort files into categories; uploading into the browser is a separate permission.

  8. improvement

    Videos play inline, zip uploads

    07:50

.mp4 files uploaded to a server play directly in the chat, and .zip archives can now be shared on servers too.

  9. feature

    Voice memos

    07:50

Record and send voice messages in DMs and in server channels (up to 3 minutes). Server memos are stored on the server like any other upload; DM memos stay end-to-end encrypted between you and the recipient.

  10. improvement

    Composer redesign

    07:50

Attach, polls, voice memo, GIF and emoji now live in a toolbar above the text field, so the input keeps its full width and no longer shrinks or shifts. Self-destructing messages in DMs sit in the same toolbar.

  11. improvement

Bigger mobile navigation & Dashboard button

    07:50

The top bar on mobile is larger and sorted, with a menu (⋯) for the less-used actions. Message actions and reactions got bigger touch targets, and the Dashboard now has a prominent button on mobile and an accent tile above your chats on desktop. The message icon on the server rail opens your chats.

  12. fix

    Mobile uploads & clipboard paste

    07:50

Uploading from phones works again (the file picker sometimes never opened), and pasting images straight from the clipboard now works in the mobile web app as well.

Saturday, 29 August 2026

  1. improvement

    Tidier profile layout

    00:19

Profile panels now pack together neatly: a shorter box lets the panel beneath it rise up and fill the gap, so mixed-height layouts no longer leave empty space.

  2. feature

    Quick launch dock (desktop)

    00:19

The desktop app overview now has a Quick launch panel for one-click access to hand-picked Steam games and any desktop application you add, without leaving FREEZEN.

  3. feature

    Steam achievements showcase

    00:19

A dedicated Achievements module shows off your unlocked achievements, with their real in-game icons, for the games you choose to feature. Your Steam profile needs to be public for achievements to load.

  4. feature

    Connect your Steam account

    00:19

Link Steam to your FREEZEN profile to showcase your Steam level and hand-picked games from your library. Manage it under Customize -> Connections, and control who can see it in Settings -> Privacy.

  5. feature

    Redesigned profile editor

    00:19

Customising your profile is now drag & drop: reorder modules freely, set each panel width and accent colour, and choose your profile background and text colours. Favourite Game, Interests and Playtime also got accent-coloured icons.

  6. feature

    Feature your games

    00:19

Your full profile can now showcase a favourite game and a list of game interests picked straight from Steam. When you visit someone else, games you both like are highlighted so common ground is easy to spot.

  7. feature

    Steam panels on your overview

    00:19

Three new overview panels pull live Steam data: fresh releases, the most-played games of the week, and upcoming announcements. Toggle any of them between a single scrollable row and a full grid.

Wednesday, 26 August 2026

  1. Overview

    Custom panels & richer showcase

    20:56

Add your own panels to the overview (text, link or YouTube) and drag them anywhere. On your profile, the featured servers now show their banner, icon and description, and you can drag to reorder what you showcase.

  2. Profile

Feature servers & groups on your profile

    20:46

Show off your public servers and groups on your full profile (Customize → Featured). Plus a tidier DM list: only chats you actually opened.

  3. Servers

    Announcement channels & muting

    20:46

Admins can create announcement channels that notify every member, and optionally make them un-mutable. You can now mute individual channels or a whole server.

  4. Blocking

    Blocked users

    20:46

Messages from users you blocked are now hidden on servers (click to reveal). Blocked users also can no longer send you friend requests.

  5. Calls

    Call history in DMs

    20:46

After a call, a log entry shows up in the DM — with the call duration when it connected, or Missed call when nobody picked up.

  6. Mobile

    Mobile status & sound

    20:46

Friends now see a small phone badge when you are online only on mobile. And custom notification sounds now work in the Android app too.

Tuesday, 25 August 2026

  1. feature

    Email verification & password reset

    16:44

New sign-ups now confirm their email. You can add an email to existing accounts (Settings → Security), reset a forgotten password, and optionally use email as a 2FA method.

  2. feature

    What's new panel

    16:19

This dev log! New features land here — kept up to date by the team.

  3. feature

    Nameplates

    16:18

Set a decorative nameplate image in Settings → Profile. It shows behind your name in DM and member lists.

  4. feature

    Chat search

    16:17

Search any DM, group or server channel by text, sender and date — with jump-to-message.

  5. feature

    Polls

    16:16

    Create polls in a channel via the + menu or "/poll Question | A | B". Optional auto-close time.

  6. feature

    Events overview & sharing

    16:15

See upcoming events from all your servers on the overview, a "what's next" hint in the channel list, and share events with a rich card (nice Discord preview too).

  7. feature

    Recurring events

    16:14

Events can now repeat daily, weekly or monthly. New "Manage events" permission controls who may create them.

  8. feature

    Watch together upgrades

    16:13

Shared YouTube playlist/queue with auto-advance, and pop-out windows now sync correctly.

  9. fix

    Uploads no longer drop calls

    16:12

Fixed a crash where uploading a large image kicked you out of an active call.

  10. feature

    Overview customization

    16:11

Full-width dashboard, 2/3-column layout toggle and a home-screen background image.
